WHAT WORKS BEST

Embroidery is best suited to clean, simple artwork. Logos, bold text, initials, monograms, strong outlines and minimal colours usually produce the strongest result.

It is less suitable for photographic images, fine gradients, tiny text, very detailed illustrations or large solid areas on lightweight garments. For artwork with lots of detail or colour, we may recommend screen printing or another decoration method instead.

Our aim is to help you choose the process that gives the best finished result.

QUALITY CONTROL

Every embroidered order is checked throughout production. We look at stitch density, placement, thread colours, trimming and final presentation to make sure your garments meet our standards.

The process usually includes artwork checking, digitising, thread colour selection, garment preparation, embroidery setup, stitching, trimming, finishing, quality control and packing.

Whether you need a small run of embroidered caps or a full uniform rollout, we focus on producing neat, consistent embroidery across every garment.

RESPONSIBLE OPTIONS

We can recommend organic, vegan and Fair Wear garment options for embroidery projects, including premium sweatshirts, hoodies, headwear and outerwear. These are ideal for brands and businesses looking to create quality merchandise with more responsible garment choices.

WHAT IS EMBROIDERY?

Embroidery is a decoration method where your logo or design is stitched directly into the fabric using thread. Before production, your artwork is converted into a specialist stitch file. This tells the embroidery machine how to recreate your design, including stitch direction, thread colours and density.

Unlike print methods, embroidery creates a raised, tactile finish. This gives your branding more depth and helps even a simple logo feel more refined.

Embroidery works especially well for bold logos, clean text, monograms, initials and simple brand marks.

WHY CHOOSE EMBROIDERY?

Embroidery is a great choice when you want branded clothing that feels professional, structured and made for regular use. It is particularly effective on heavier garments and accessories where a printed finish may not be the best fit.

It works well for corporate uniforms, staff sweatshirts, hoodies, branded workwear, hospitality clothing, club apparel, premium merchandise, caps, beanies, jackets and outerwear.

Because the design is stitched into the garment, embroidery offers excellent durability. It is well suited to clothing that will be worn and washed often, making it a strong option for team clothing, trade workwear and customer-facing uniforms.

It also adds texture and visual impact. Custom embroidery gives logos and text a tactile finish that helps them stand out without needing a large print area.

Embroidery for Heavier Garments and Accessories

Embroidery is often the better choice for garments with more structure, thickness or texture. Heavyweight hoodies, premium sweatshirts, canvas jackets, fleeces, overshirts, caps and beanies all work well with embroidery because the thread sits neatly within the fabric.

For business apparel, embroidery offers a smart way to display your logo. Whether you need left chest logos for uniforms, cap embroidery for an event, beanie embroidery for winter merch or name embroidery for staff clothing, we can help you choose the right size and placement.

Stitch Quality Matters

High-quality embroidery depends on using the right stitch count. To create a bold, dense and clean result, every design needs to be set up properly for the artwork, garment and fabric.

We do not cut corners by reducing stitches. Too few stitches can leave rough edges, gaps, thin coverage and an uneven finish. The right stitch density helps create sharper lines, stronger coverage and a better end result.

Different fabrics also need different embroidery settings. A cap, hoodie, polo shirt and jacket will not behave in exactly the same way, so the setup needs to suit the product.

Artwork, Digitising and Thread Colours

Before your logo can be embroidered, it needs to be digitised. This means your artwork is converted into a stitch file ready for production.

Clear, simple artwork usually gives the best result. Vector files are preferred, but we can check your logo and advise on what will work. Very small text, fine details or complex artwork may need to be adjusted so the final embroidery looks clean and easy to read.

We offer a wide range of thread colours and will match your branding as closely as possible. Embroidery thread cannot always replicate every digital or Pantone colour exactly, but we will recommend the closest available option to keep your garments aligned with your brand.

GARMENTS WE RECOMMEND FOR EMBROIDERY

Embroidery works across a wide range of garments and accessories, including sweatshirts, hoodies, polo shirts, jackets, caps, beanies, aprons, tote bags, canvas workwear and outerwear.

AS Colour has an excellent range of premium headwear, sweatshirts and outerwear that works beautifully with embroidery. We can also recommend styles from other trusted garment manufacturers depending on your budget, audience and how the garments will be used.

Common embroidery placements include left chest, sleeve, cuff, centre front, back neck, cap front, cap side, beanie front, apron chest and bag pockets.

From subtle staff uniforms to bold embroidered caps, we will help you choose the right garment, placement and finish.
